Discovery

With the addition of more electric vehicles being added to the BMW range, the brand wanted offer prospects an easy way to compare their fuel savings by driving electric. With two cost comparison websites already in existence, BMW tasked Juice to combine them together and deliver a single, rich experience for users.

Both websites had different user journeys and calculation inputs, the challenge for the product team was to identify the key features and develop a seamless user journey, one that made it easy for users to locate their model of interest and calculate their fuel saving results.

Discovery

Both websites had different user journeys and calculation inputs, the challenge for the product team was to identify the key features and develop a seamless user journey, one that made it easy for users to locate their model of interest and calculate their fuel saving results.

Idea

The product team began by ideating the information hierarchy, taking key data points from both of the previous websites. This began to form the skeleton of a user flow and key product features which were visualised in low-fidelity wireframes. The calculators were a main focus of the product, allowing users to enter their journey details and calculate their all-electric or plug-in-hybrid savings. Working closely with BMW, the product team were able to identify the data requirements for the calculations, which included complex performance data for each electrified model in the BMW range. From product inception to final delivery, the team developed a responsive microsite for BMW. Complete with rich micro interactions and a user-centric design, BMW Electrified helps to address a key barrier to purchase for many would-be electrified vehicle owners, around charging costs and range anxiety.
