IHG Responsible Procurement

THE CHALLENGE

Underpinning IHG’s purpose, strategy, reputation and ability to deliver long-term shareholder returns is their commitment to responsible business. A key component of this commitment is how IHG manages their complex supply chain, ethical standards and green criteria – referred to as Responsible Procurement.

Our challenge was to demystify Responsible Procurement and position this globally to the business, suppliers and hotels to kick-start an ongoing engagement and learning comms programme that would affect change and support IHG’s 2018-2020 responsible business targets.

THE SOLUTION

To enable a global audience to start to understand what Responsible Procurement looks like and how this applies to them in their day-to-day roles, we needed to capture what is a very complex subject and translate this into a simplified visual and written language. This would form the foundation for future ongoing sustainment programmes and initiatives.

WE THOUGHT

An articulation of what Responsible Procurement is, at a high-level, was needed as a starting point. Once defined, this would be applied across all communications to deliver a consistent, overarching message from which more detailed subject matter would be developed.
